Be Our Volunteer

Volunteers are core pillars of our Center. Every semester and summer, children are benefited from dedicated volunteers and show significant improvement on their academic performance and discipline.

Consider joining our fun and meaningful programs to reach out to the underserved migrant community. Your support will enable a child and his family to take a step towards a better future.

Interested in Volunteer?

Every semester, we need 35-40 volunteers for the after school program (Mon-Fri, 4-6 p.m. or 5-7 p.m. in summer time) who are committed to come every week to help the kids on their homework and to organize after school activities.

For the Saturday children’s club, there are three programs that recruit volunteers: the English club (9:30-12:00 a.m.), the drawing club (1:00-2:00 p.m.), and the character building theater (2:30-4:00 p.m.).

Every summer, we also need volunteers to help us on the summer camp.

Let’s hear what our volunteers said:

Volunteering at Agape is my first social service. Compared to the children in the city, kids at Agape live a simpler life. Here, the intense comparison between students in the city is replaced by laughters, with a great sense of achievement in making handicrafts and self-discipline. I try to remember every smiling face. Although I know that it’s hard for me to completely make a difference to the kids, I’m happy that I do my best to help.- Shan Lin, Volunteer, After School Program

Migrant children are the less privileged one in the society. Often, they are not able to receive good teaching. Education facilities and resources are also very limited for them. Agape is just like their second home where teachers pay lots of attention on them, preparing teaching materials and books to widen their scope. University students assist the children with their schoolwork. In Chinese, there’s a saying ‘When you give other roses, fragrance remains’. As you help others, you also feel fruitful and happy. We give love to these children and one day they will also give back to the society. Love creates harmony and better life.- Ying Ying Sung, Volunteer, After School Program

Volunteering at Agape and interacting with children makes me happy. Their simplicity deeply influenced me. Teaching the kids help me become a more patient person in finding out problems and solutions. The volunteer experience is a great asset and make my university life more fruitful. - Ying Jun Li, Volunteer, After School Program
